Fall is here! Summer usually hangs on pretty steady through September but our heat wave ended two weeks ago with some of the nicest, coolest September weather I can recall for some time. And we have had some rain! Not enough for a drought buster but certainly welcome.

Please check out the banner on the bottom of the page. This worthwhile group is seeking counselors and other positions for their summer programs. Here is a link for more information.

The Fresh Air Fund is also in need of hosts for this summer. Host families are volunteers who open their hearts and home to a child from the city to give a fresh air experience that disadvantaged children never forget. Below is a link which explains everything.

Today At The Beach: Friday, September 18, Gorgeous!

What a beautiful day today! No surf but warm, around 90 degrees, clear and a light onshore seabreeze. Umm umm..!

Lucy And Her Surfboard

My long time friend Lucy with the surf board I made for her many years ago. It was a 5'4" twin fin. I rode it a few times as a knee board with my Churchill swim fins in good waves at Huntington Beach and Church's, just below Lower Trestles. It rode well!

Don't Let Them Steal Your Beach! Vote For Proposition 9!

On Nov. 3, 2009, there will be a state wide election here in Texas. Proposition #9 will be on the ballot. If you are a beach lover you will want to vote for proposition #9.
This is... "The constitutional amendment to protect he right of the public individually and collectively to access and use the public beaches bordering the seaward shore of the Gulf of Mexico."
Every year greedy developers and their politician allies scheme and plot to take over our local beaches. We have enjoyed some success in beating them but we must be ever vigilant because greed never dies. This amendment will go a long way to help in the battle to protect our beaches.
I am a proud member of the Surfrider Foundation and I would encourage people to join them and support their efforts to protect beaches.
