Green Light Given To Hi-Rise

The Nueces County Commissioner's Court voted yesterday to give a permit for the construction of a 36 story, over 360 foot high monstrosity on Mustang Island.
The proposal had been tabled for further consideration because of concerns over plans to build structures within 200 fet of the beach.
Those items were removed from the plan and the item passed with no opposition.
Naismith Engineering, the pet company for county projects, submitted the project for Pat Walters, a Milwaukee, Wis. developer.
This is a very bad precedent to set for island development. Does the future hold more of such plans? What about the possible damage from hurricanes?
I recall a hi-rise condo in Alabama or Mississippi being destroyed during hurricane Camille with a big loss of life among residents holding a hurricane party.
